Abstract
In this chapter we describe an architecture for a workstation that combines data mining tools with analysis tools in building new decision support sys tems and automatically integrates the new system into a diagnosis classific ation skeleton. The workstation is intended to support fast and efficient n avigation toward a correct diagnosis and consists of modules each capable o f supporting the diagnosis of specific diseases. The production line within which domain experts can generate decision suppo rt systems for a specific disease will be described together with one of th e analysis tools used in the production line, the generalised pre-processin g perceptron (GPP). The GPP has a structure that allows results comparable to a multilayer perceptron, yet perceiving parameter interpretations releva nt within the medical domain.
