Abstract
The surface morphology of PrBa2Cu3O7-x (PBCO) single crystals was investiga ted using scanning tunneling microscopy and atomic force microscopy. We wer e able to estimate the width of the semiconducting gap and the variations o f the local density of stares (LDOS) near the Fermi level (E-F) of single c rystals at room temperature on the basis of spectroscopic measurements of t he local I-V characteristics. The characteristic feature of reduced PBCO si ngle crystals in the normal state are also discussed. (C) 1999 Elsevier Sci ence Ltd. All rights reserved.
