Abstract
FT-IR and FT-Raman spectroscopy have been applied to elucidate the morpholo gy and structure of poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) processed with super critical CO2 (scCO(2)). Infrared and Raman spectra of PET samples show an i ncreased degree of crystallinity after being subjected to scCO(2). FT-Raman spectroscopy has also been utilized to study the supercritical dyeing of P ET samples with azo dyes. These results may aid optimization of 'solvent-fr ee' processes for advanced processing of packaging materials and supercriti cal fluid dyeing of textiles. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V.
