Abstract
Vibrational circular dichroism (VCD) spectra are reported for d(GC)(20). d( GC)(20) and d(ATGCATGCAT). d(ATGCATGCAT) in D2O without Mn2+ and in the pre sence of 0.64 and 0.50 [Mn]/[P] concentration ratios, respectively. Changes in the VCD spectra are compared with the changes of the corresponding infr ared absorption bands and interpreted in terms of structural changes in the oligonucleotides. Based on these examples, it appears that VCD provides be tter definition of structural modification as a result of complexation with Mn2+ ions than infrared absorption. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V.
