Abstract
recent years have seen a vast growth in the statutory provisions gover ning sentencing Piecemeal development and constant amendment and re-am endment have produced legislation which is difficult to identify and a pply. This article examines the problems which result from legislation in this form and argues for consolidation and simplification.
