Abstract
We report that acoustic driving of ZnSe/ZnS quantum wells can yield greater
than or equal to 30% shortening of the fast component (on the order of 10(
2) ps) of exciton radiative decays and relatively enhanced tail emissions a
t greater instants. The shortening is attributed to the driving-induced rel
ocalization of excitons to lower-energy states while the enhancement is ind
icative of the drift diffusion of mobile populations in the driving electri
c field. These results suggest that the radiative recombination predominant
ly occurs from localized excitons. (C) 1999 American Institute of Physics.
