Abstract
The role of perceived organisational support and satisfaction with rewards in explaining job involvement and two forms of organisational commitment (a ffective and continuance commitment) was explored with samples of dairy wor kers in Ireland and New Zealand. Perceived organisational support was signi ficantly linked with job involvement, and with affective and continuance co mmitment, although its relationship with continuance commitment was negativ e. Satisfaction with intrinsic and (to a lesser extent) extrinsic rewards w as also a salient predictor of job involvement and affective commitment, bu t not continuance commitment. Implications for enhancing positive work atti tudes are discussed.
