Abstract
Charged particle activation of natural CeO2 with 80 MeV C-12(+6) results in the formation of the carrier-free gadolinium isotopes, Gd-147,Gd-149, in t he matrix. The liquid cation exchanger, HDEHP, has been utilized effectivel y as an extractant in the quantitative separation of these gadolinium isoto pes from the bulk target matrix of eerie oxide.
