A novel multichannel asynchronous time-resolving system with 16 time-resolv
ing channels has been developed for conventional FT-IR spectrophotometers.
The system enables measurement at 16 time delays simultaneously. This reduc
es the measuring time substantially and decreases possible damage of a samp
le by the stimulus. Moreover, simultaneous time resolving by the multichann
el system improves the reliability of the data. As a performance test of th
e system, application to the study of reorientation dynamics in a ferroelec
tric liquid crystal is reported.
