Abstract
[2.3]Metacyclophanes(=MCPs) which carry various functional groups at t heir outer aromatic position have been synthesized. The transannular i nteraction between two aromatic rings of [2.3]MCPs estimated by their NMR and UV spectra has been proved to decrease in comparison with that of the [2.2]MCP system.
