N. Masahashi, PHYSICAL AND MECHANICAL-PROPERTIES IN NI3AL WITH AND WITHOUT BORON, Materials science & engineering. A, Structural materials: properties, microstructure and processing, 223(1-2), 1997, pp. 42-53
This paper will provide a review of recent research activities of the
physical and mechanical properties in Ni3Al with and without boron, pa
rticularly concentrated on the chemical features related to deformatio
n behavior. Ductility improvement by boron addition and stoichiometry
controlling will be explained from the viewpoint of grain boundary che
mistry related to bulk physical properties. There have not been accumu
lated enough fundamental data and results for ductility or deformabili
ty compared with those for strengthening. The conclusion with emphasis
in this paper are that there are so many unsolved subjects in both me
chanisms for physical and mechanical properties and further additional
works are necessary to solve them from both fundamental and applicati
on Interests. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science S.A.
