Abstract
A model is presented which is capable of reproducing the trends observ ed in radial and longitudinal transformation strains when steel transf orms to bainite under the application of a uniaxial compressive stress . The predictions of the model are tested against experimental dilatom etric measurement of the bainite transformation. In view of the comple xity of the modelling problem, good agreement is found between predict ed and experimental values of transformation plasticity and kinetics. (C) 1996 Elsevier Science S.A.
