Abstract
This paper analyses the Total Factor Productivity (TFP) evolution in OECD c ountries by breaking down productivity gains into technical change and effi ciency change. To avoid biases, Malmquist indices of productivity, includin g human capital, are estimated. The results indicate that, in fact, the inc lusion of human capital has a significant effect on the accurate measuremen t of TFP. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science S.A. All rights reserved.
