Abstract
A polarisation-independents, push-pull InP Mach-Zehnder modulator for 40Gbi t/s all-optical regeneration has been implemented in a loop transmission sc heme. Error-free regenerated transmission over >20000km was obtained. Wavel ength independence and immunity to crosstalk were also measured, showing-th e potential for WDM transmission applications.
