Results are presented of high-resolution time delay and angle-of-arrival me
asurements behind a large building in an urban microcell. It is demonstrate
d that in this particular case the electromagnetic field is dominated by co
ntributions resulting from transmission through the building. The associate
d loss over free space loss is < 30 dB. This makes clear the importance of
modelling propagation through buildings surrounding the base station in the
planning stage of urban microcells.
