B. Goel et al., 2-Substituted-3-(4-bromo-2-carboxyphenyl)-5-methyl-4-thiazolidinones as potential anti-inflammatory agents, EUR J MED C, 34(3), 1999, pp. 265-269
New anthranilic acid derivatives, 2-substituted-3-(4-bromo-2-carboxyphenyl)
-5-methyl-4-thiazolidinone, were synthesized and evaluated for their anti-i
nflammatory activity against carrageenan-induced oedema in albino rats. The
most active member of the series, 3-(4-bromo-2-carboxyphenyl)-2-(2-fluorop
henyl)-5-methyl-4-thiazolidinone 6 was compared with phenylbutazone for its
relative antiinflammatory potency and ulcerogenic liability. ED50, cardiov
ascular and central nervous system effects of 6 were also studied. (C) Else
