Abstract
Thrombocytopenia occurs when the whole blood platelet count declines below 200,000/mu l. if can occur through increased platelet destruction, increase d sequestration, or result from impaired production. immune-mediated thromb ocytopenia is rare in the cat,(1,3) but it can occur with similar signs as those occurring in the dog which include capillary bleeding involving the s kin or mucous membranes. The unique features of this case report include (1 ) the typical signs of immune-mediated thrombocytopenia in the cat (2) the patient's ability to endure a nearly normal life despite the marked thrombo cytopenia, and (3) the eventual outcome of the epistaxis.
