The effects of olive mill waste water (OMWW) spreading on micro-biological
activity of soils were investigated, by determination of some biochemical p
arameters after spreading OMWW (800 m(3) ha(-1)): biomass carbon was measur
ed on samples before addition and then after 15, 30 and 60 days. Respiratio
n, performed in closed jars, was measured during a 22 days incubation perio
d. These parameters were both largely increased by the addition. The minera
lising power, measured after addition of a smaller amount of OMWW (150 m(3)
ha(-1)), was not affected by OMWW.
