Physico-chemical parameters of Oreto river water determined under various seasonal atmospheric conditions and photocatalytic tests to degrade dissolved organic pollutants

Oreto river is one of the source from which the city of Palermo derives its water supply. In last years the river has been subject to a dramatic pollu tion. The present paper reports a systematic analytical investigation on fo ur sites. Moreover, in order to prove the effectiveness of the photocatalyt ic method to degrade organic pollutants dissolved in an actual water efflue nt, selected water samples were irradiated in the presence of polycrystalli ne TiO2 (mainly in the anatase phase).
