Variations in the type of production leading to high fluctuations in water
and chemical consumption were the main causes of the problems faced in the
operation of the treatment plant of a detergent manufacturing factory. The
characteristics of raw wastewater and effluent water were analysed for a pe
riod of four months together with a series of Jar Test experiments to searc
h the appropriate type of chemical coagulant and pH adjusting agents. The b
iological treatment necessitated the application of bacteria culture and an
tifoaming agent to increase its performance.
