Cobalt-bearing malanite and other Pt-thiospinels from the Maior River placers (Kamchatka)

Platinoid-bearing minerals from the Major River placers confined to the con centrically zonal massif of Mt. Filippa (Kamchatka) are studied. The minera ls are Pt-Fe alloys with inclusions of Os, laurite-erlichmanite, kashinite- bowieite, inaglyite, cuprorhodsite, cuproiridsite, and malanite. Along with minerals typical of such placers, Co-malanite has been first found, in whi ch the share of carrollite end member varies from 16 to 47 mol.%. This sugg ests the existence of an isomorphous series between Pt- and Co-thiospinels.
