Abstract
This paper presents field experience with a cluster of adjustable-speed dri ves (ASD's) that affected the performance of a metal detector (MD). The cas e history is detailed and explanations are given for the basic phenomena th at govern the transfer of energy from the ASD circuit to the MD. Mitigation methods are briefly presented.
