Abstract
We present an open magnetic shield of a new type consisting of ferromagneti c plates and rods connecting the plates. As the center is only partially su rrounded by the shield, the shielded region is easily accessible. An exampl e of this kind of shield is analyzed using a magnetostatic hybrid formulati on, where only the magnetic structures need be modeled. We present how diff erent parameters affect the performance of the shield. Ideally, this struct ure allows an infinite shielding factor at the center with a material of fi nite permeability.
