Abstract
The inverse problem of reconstructing the starlike boundary Lambda of an in finitely conducting, cylindrically shaped obstacle from its far field scatt ering data is investigated. The Equivalent Source Method (ESM) is applied b y defining an auxiliary curve Gamma inside the unknown boundary Lambda on w hich electric and magnetic current densities are sought to represent the me asured fields. Compared to the case of a sole polarization the exploitation of scattering data of both TE- and TM-polarization yields significant impr ovements on the reconstructed boundary Lambda.
