Green house experiments were performed to study the effects of ammonium thi
osulphate (ATS) on maize dry matter and nitrogen (N) and sulfur (S) uptake
in a sodic soil. In a first experiment, ATS was mixed with the soil (M) at
S rates of 0, 30, 50, 70 and 100 mg/kg soil. In a second experiment, ATS wa
s band-applied to the soil at rates of 0, 140, 270 and 400 mg/kg soil. In b
oth experiments, dry matter yields were significantly increased with the in
crement of the ATS dose applied to the soil. Banded ATS produced higher mai
ze dry matter N and S uptake than ATS mixed with the soil.
