Wj. Staszewski et Gr. Tomlinson, LOCAL TOOTH FAULT-DETECTION IN GEARBOXES USING A MOVING WINDOW PROCEDURE, Mechanical systems and signal processing, 11(3), 1997, pp. 331-350
An algorithm for local tooth fault detection in gearboxes is proposed.
The method is based on the assumption that local faults produce a ser
ies of impulses in the vibration time response signals. These impulses
are detected by a moving window. The method is applied to vibration d
ata to detect a broken tooth in a spur gear. The study includes the an
alysis of the window function parameters which affect the results. (C)
