In the next parabolic power plant generation the water will be evaporated d
irectly in the absorber pipes. The two-phase flow behaviour in horizontal h
eated pipes with direct steam production has been investigated under steady
state conditions in several projects in the past. In this paper the influe
nce of changing conditions on the flow behaviour (flow patterns) and the ob
tained wall temperatures will be presented. The dynamic reaction of the flo
w patterns will be investigated concentrating on the stratified flows becau
se this flow pattern is critical due to the partial wetting of the pipe. Th
e change of the temperatures and the dynamic pressures after changing the e
ntrance conditions will be presented.
