Abstract
The gene was constructed for a ribozyme specific toward the mRNA of in
fluenza virus A gene PB1 encoding the RNA polymerase subunit. The ribo
zyme cleaved the target RNA fragment in a cell-free system, more effic
iently in cis but also in irans. Approaches to designing ribozymes aga
inst influenza virus A are discussed.
