Abstract
Boletellus catalalaunicus sp. nov. is described and its delimitation f rom other taxa is discussed. Very likely in the past, the new taxon ha s been mistaken for other Boletus or Xerocomus spp. with deep red caps from which it is clearly distinguishable by its pronounced epithelioi d pileipellis and its striate spores.
