Abstract
Excess molar volumes for the ternary mixture N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF) methanol + water and for the binary constituents, DMF + water, DMF + methan ol and methanol + water at 298.15 K are reported. Several empirical express ions are used to predict and correlate the ternary excess molar volumes fro m experimental results on the constituent binaries. A pseudo binary mixture approach is used to analyze the system studied. The partial molar volumes of methanol at infinite dilution in DMF + water mixed solvent at several fi xed compositions were evaluated and correlated with the composition.
