Abstract
The linear SiC9 cluster has been detected for the first time in Fourier-tra nsform infrared spectra observed when the products from the laser evaporati on of Si/C rods were trapped in Ar at similar to 10 K. Comparison of C-13 i sotopic shift measurements with the results of density functional theory ca lculations (DFT) confirms the identification of the nu(4)(sigma) mode of Si C9 at 1935.8 cm(-1).
