Abstract
In Australian populations of barramundi Lates calcarifer, phylogenetic reco nstruction of mtDNA sequences provided evidence of significant historical l evels of gene flow, despite the substantial structuring of contemporary pop ulations. The geographical pattern of mtDNA sequences among the populations was not congruent with previous evidence of a major disjunction between we stern and eastern populations of barramundi in Australia.
