Abstract
We have investigated the low-energy (0-30 eV) behaviour of electrons elasti cally scattered by C-60 fullerene in the gas phase by employing a non-empir ical model interaction constructed from first principles and by solving the body-fixed coupled scattering equations for the collision process. The res ults show evidence for a highly structured behaviour of the total elastic c ross sections over the examined energy range and suggest the presence of nu merous metastable stares associated with single-particle resonances occurri ng during the collision. The corresponding angular distributions are also e valuated at various angles and for several collision energies, showing the presence of specific resonances that were also suggested by earlier experim ental findings.
