Abstract
Survival of Rhizobium meliloti B-36 on lucerne seeds was affected by t he age of peat legume inoculants. Rhizobia death rate was similar with the different seed coats used during experiment namely: peat, lime, p erlite and perlite-soil. During a 17-27 week timespan, 90% reduction o f bacteria occurred among the preinoculated seeds. However, the remain ing microorganism concentration ensured a 10(4) viable cells/seed conc entration.
