Abstract
A new lupane triterpene, divergioic acid, has been isolated from the stem b ark of Vochysia divergens together with beta-sitosterol, betulinic, sericic and 24-hydroxytormentic acids and the (28 --> 1) beta-D-glucopyranosyl est er of the latter. The structure of divergioic acid was elucidated by spectr oscopic techniques and characterized as 2 alpha,3 beta,6 beta-trihydroxy-lu p-20(29)-en-28-oic acid.
