Abstract
We report the case of a patient who, following surgical removal of an exten sive tumour of the bowel, developed fungaemia. The yeast was isolated from repeated blood and urine cultures and identified as Rhodotorula rubra on th e basis of macroscopic and microscopic features. Following treatment with a mphotericin B, the patient's condition improved and the cultures became ste rile. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
