New taxa of pleurotoid Russulaceae

Russula lateralipes sp. nov. from Papua New Guinea and R. pleurogena sp. no v, from New Zealand are described in Russula sect. Lateralipedes sect. nov. They represent the first reports of pleurotoid species for Russula. The ta xonomic importance of these taxa towards a better understanding and classif ication of pleurotoid Russulaceae is discussed. The description of a separa te genus, Pleurogala, for Lactarius sect. Panuoidei is debated.
