Because further surgery on postoperative aneurysm remnants can be difficult
and lead to significant morbidity and mortality, endovascular treatment, u
sing controlled detachable coils, was performed in three patients with such
remnants. The endovascular approach was technically more difficult in thes
e cases than in previously untreated patients. In one case, the "remodellin
g" technique was necessary. Given the successful outcome in these patients,
endovascular treatment can be proposed as an alternative to another operat
ion, when further surgery appears too risky or is refused by the patient.
