We determine pairing gap and binding energy of symmetric nuclear matter in
a combined, self-consistent treatment of BCS gap equation and Brueckner-Har
tree-Fock equations. Relative to the uncoupled scheme, we find a reduction
of the gap by about 10 percent. The binding energy per nucleon is lowered b
y up to about 1 MeV. [S0556-2813(99)01305-9].
