Abstract
A new mechanism of charmed-quark fragmentation into D mesons in hadron-hadr on collisions has been proposed. It has been shown that distinctions betwee n valence-quark distributions in initial pi(+/-) and K+/- mesons lead to di fferent inclusive spectra of D and D-s mesons produced in pi(+/-) and K+/- beams.
