Abstract
A simple and efficient method for the preparation of benzils through the so lid state oxidation reaction of benzoins by FeCl3. 6H(2)O at low-heating te mperatures(80 similar to 90 degrees C) is described. The oxidation conditio ns are mild. The products are easily separated with no pollutions produced.
