Abstract
The addition of guanidine to the bis-alpha,beta-unsaturated ketone 17 is re ported, leading to the formation of the tricyclic guanidine 18, the left ha nd portion of the naturally occurring alkaloid batzelladine F. Nmr evidence is given which casts doubt upon the assignment of the relative stereochemi stry of this metabolite. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved .
