The study of the tribological behavior of plasma sprayed coatings (Al2O3, A
l2O3/TiO2, Al2O3/TiO2/Copper) in dry conditions was carried out in a cylind
er/plane configuration. The effect of TiO2 and copper additions on the prop
erties of coatings were investigated in terms of microhardness and fracture
toughness, and were related to the friction behavior and wear resistance.
It was found that TiO2 improves the fracture toughness of coatings and copp
