Abstract
The title compound, 2[PtI(C9H23N3)] [Pt2I6] or 2[Pt-(Me(5)dien)I][Pt2I6], w here Me(5)dien is pentamethyldiethylenetriamine, has been synthesized and i ts X-ray structure solved. In the asymmetric unit, there are two platinum(I I) complex moieties, i.e. [Pt(Me(5)dien)I](+) cations, in which the metal h as distorted square-planar coordination geometry, and half an iodo-bridged [Pt2I6](2-) anion, in which the Pt center has a regular square-planar arran gement.
