Abstract
The subject of strong field pair creation, which has important cosmological implications associated with black hole decay, is studied in the simpler c ontext of strong electric fields. The pair creation rate is calculated by f ormal methods first given by Schwinger as well as via less forbidding wave function techniques. (C) 1999 American Association of Physics Teachers.
