Two types of mycorrhizae were found on the roots of Wollemia nobilis Jones,
Hill & Alien collected from the field, Paris-type arbuscular mycorrhizae (
AM) and ectendomycorrhizae. By contrast, roots of Agathis robusta (C.Moore
ex F.Muell) and Araucaria cunninghamii Aiton ex D.Don, also members of the
family Araucariaceae, had only Paris-type AM. Arbuscular mycorrhizae were f
ound in both nodules and elongate roots from all plants, but ectendomycorrh
izae were found only on elongate roots of one plant of W, nobilis. Implicat
ions of these findings are discussed in relation to outplanting propagated
specimens of W. nobilis.
