Biology and biogeography of extant cephalopods

Starting out from a brief history of modern teuthology, the author reviews major phenomena related to reproduction, life span and migration, considers ontogeny and dispersal, and gives a brief survey of systematics in relatio n to patterns of geographic distribution. The concluding discussion puts em phasis on the importance of enhanced exchange of ideas between paleontologi sts and neontologists.
