The present work reports an infrared and Raman spectroscopic study of the S
rPbP2O7 and BaPbP2O7 orthorhombic diphosphates. The comparison of the vibra
tional spectra of the studied compounds, with those of alpha-Sr2P2O7, a-Ba2
P2O7, allowed us to confirm the crystallographic results obtained and prove
d the influence of the ionic radius of the alkaline-earth on the frequencie
s of the P2O74- vibrations.
