Abstract
A dynamic kinetic resolution process using (4S)-4-isopropyl-1,3-oxazolidin- 2-one as chiral auxiliary was developed. Starting from equimolar mixtures o f 2-bromoimides, the nucleophilic displacement of bromine with 4-chlorophen oxide was found to proceed with good diastereoselectivity. The chiral auxil ary was easily removed to afford enantiomerically pure analogues of clofibr ate. Chirality 11:483-486, 1999. (C) 1999 Wiley-Liss, Inc.
