D. Opota et al., Comparative tablet and rheological properties of new microcrystalline cellulose: Direct compression and wet granulation methods, DRUG DEV IN, 25(6), 1999, pp. 795-799
The overall objective of this study was to compare the rheological properti
es and tablet characteristics of two new varieties of celluloses (Vivacel 1
01 and 102), recently produced and commercialized, with the classical varie
ties of celluloses (Avicel and Elcema). The results showed no significant d
ifferences in the rheological properties of Vivacel and Avicel, while signi
ficant differences were found between the two celluloses and Elcema. Furthe
rmore, there were no statistically significant differences in the disintegr
ation times and T-d values of Vivacel and Avicel. In conclusion, it was fou
nd that these new celluloses offer all the known advantages of Avicel.
